Pour dire la date, il faut utiliser les nombres ordinaux (premier, second, troisième).
Les trois premiers (et les nombres qui se terminent par eux comme twenty-first — 21st)
sont irréguliers : first (1st), second (2nd), third (3rd).
Pour tous les autres on rajoute simplement -th :
- => fourth (4th), fifth (5th), sixth (6th), seventh (7th), eighth (8th), tenth (10th)…
1st = first,
2nd = second,
3rd = third,
4th = fourth,
5th = fifth,
6th = sixth,
7th = seventh,
8th = eighth,
9th = ninth,
10th = tenth,
11th = eleventh,
12th = twelfth,
exemple: January is the first month of the year.
Attention ! eleventh (11th), twelveth (12th), twentieth (20th), thirtieth (30th), fourtieth (40th) …
Les mois ont des noms proches du français. Mais la prononciation est souvent assez
différente.
- => January; February; March; April; May; June; July; August; September; October;
- November; December
Pour lire la date, on commence par le mois, puis le jour, enfin l'année :
- => September, the seventh 2013
